The past week or so has been absolutely PERFECT Spring weather here in the midwest so this past Saturday, we headed into Missouri for the day to play as a family.
First up, we went to St. Charles where they coincidentally were having a Scottish/Highland Fair and Parade. First thing, we hit the park on the Missouri River and Little Bit got her a balloon (Heaven for this little girl!)
We enjoyed some home-made pretzels and root beer (un-carbonated much to Jacob's chagrin) down on the river while we wandered all the booths.
and enjoyed the GORGEOUS spring colors....
Jacob took this photo of Kat and I. I think that it's the best photo of us that we have ever had! Note.... you will notice that every photo from here on out will have me in this pose because I look much skinnier than I actually am! ;o)
Some more gorgeous foliage with the family...
Look at the way that the blossoms were coming off this tree....
At lunchtime, we ate at a little street-side cafe. Jacob playing on his phone, Ben reading the paper.
I was messing with the settings on my camera. Not actually taking photos just messing around and it kept beeping. After about 20 beeps, this is the look that they gave me. LOL...definitely father and son!!!
While we were sitting there eating, the parade started and we had the perfect spot!!! So we had to order dessert too (strawberry shortcake) so that we could see the whole parade. Some sacrifices just have to be made! (it had 4 pieces of poundcake on it...thank goodness, we only bought one for all of us to split!)
Highland parade= guys in kilts. It's a VERY good thing! ;o)
Then we (i.e. ME) had to go hit my favorite stamp store in town.
While I shopped everyone else played with the camera out on the porch...
More gorgeous flora....
Mom (Nana) mentioned that she has been missing Flopsy in the latest photos....proof that she is still ever-present. Unfortunately, not ever-present was the balloon which managed to fly out of the car window as we drove out of town and I haven't heard the end of it since...LOL!
After St. Charles, we headed out to the Boone Homestead where Daniel Boone spent the last years of his life and died with his family.
I hope that I didn't overwhelm you with all the photos.
It actually could have been worse...I took 145.
You only had to look at 22 of them. ;o)
I hope that you are enjoying some spring weather wherever you are this week.....
