Final Day- Design Memory Craft!

Hey everyone!
Sorry that my post is so late today.
We have had wildfires in the area so I didn't get to stamping as early as I had hoped this morning.

Today is Friday and that means that we are playing with the Friday Fun Challenge.
I combined it with playing with my new Design Memory Craft products...specifically the gelatos!
Today's challenge came from Sherry:
April 29th
Bring May Flowers! This is the last Friday in April so put flowers on your project! You can use faux paper flowers, stamped flowers, felt flowers, Primas, whatever.

For my card, I decided to play with some silhouette flowers and the gelatos to see what kind of background effect I could achieve. I embossed the silhouette in black and then simply started laying down the layers of the gelatos until I was happy with the effect.

Supplies used:
*Faber-Castell Gelatos
*Paper Makeup Stamps Dandy Wishes
*Bella Blvd polka paper
*embossing ink
*black embossing powder
*prima bling centers
*flat-backed gems
*ribbon

I don't think that you could see it in the original photo, but there is a metallic sheen to these gelatos which is so cool!

Remember, Faber-Castell is giving away 2 sets of...
A Mix & Match Mixed Media Sampler
and Color Gelatos & Clear Stamp kit!

All you have to do is leave a comment on my Design Memory Craft blog posts for your chance (one comment per post. ) The drawing will take place Sunday morning so comment before then!

Something Old with Something New...

We are hip-hopping with Unity Stamp Co. today!!
Whoohoo!
Today, the Unity DT is featuring some of the Unity Stamp Co retiring stamps. As of tomorrow, you will no longer be able to get these stamps through Unity. And I am continuing my feature of Design Memory Craft products so today's post shows a bit of old with the new...
Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co Christmas Elegance (damask shape- retiring)
*Unity Stamp Co.  Something to Say (sentiment- retiring)
*StazOn jet black ink pad
*patterned paper
*string

As most of you know, I work with watercolor pencils all the time, but I have never worked with Pastel pencils. They work pretty much the same way. The difference is that with the watercolor pencil, you blend with a wet brush. For the pastel pencil, you blend with a dry brush (it's basically a chalk medium.)

Above, you can see how I color my pieces and then start blending. It's not near as artistic or precise as you think that it would need to be to achieve a pretty blended/variegated look like what you see below.

It's so easy...anyone can use these awesome tools!

Remember, Faber-Castell is giving away 2 sets of...
A Mix & Match Mixed Media Sampler and Color Gelatos & Clear Stamp kit!

All you have to do is leave a comment on my Design Memory Craft blog posts for your chance (one comment per post. )

Now you need to hop on over to ***Jen Buck's Gorgeous Blog***

Day 3 of Design Memory Craft Feature!!

Welcome to Day 3 of my Design Memory Craft feature!!!

Today I tried a slightly different technique using those fabulous gelatos! For today's project, I used the gelatos just like they were watercolors. I took my waterbrush and picked up ink off the end of the gelato and then colored in my bird images.

You can continue to reapply to get the darker shades in certain areas. They work just like watercolors, but with a bit more depth of color...

You will also notice that there is a polka-dot detail around the frame of the birds. I could not believe how easy that was. I did that using PITT artist pen in the blue metallic. There was not any of the normal mess trying to get it to work like you so often have with paint/metallic pens. Simply touch the tip to the black card stock and immediately, you have that gorgeous bright blue dot.

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Happyville
*Making Memories Journaling
*Nestabilities Labels die
*medium brads
*corner rounder
*Prima paper (harlequin)
*Fiskars border punch

For all the details about the Design Memory Craft products that I used here, see my post from Day #1.

AND Faber-Castell has been VERY generous!
They are giving away 2 prize packs for my blog readers that will consist of:
A Mix & Match Mixed Media Sampler and Color Gelatos & Clear Stamp kit!

Just leave a comment on my Design Memory Craft posts from this week
and you will be entered to win for each comment (one per day!)

Day 2 of Design Memory Craft Feature!!

I hope that you saw yesterday's post because this week on my blog,
I am featuring some gorgeous new products from Design Memory Craft

I am not going to go through the details of the products again...
you can go back and look at yesterday's post for that.

Just know...
that you will want to comment on all my Design Memory Craft posts this week
and you will have a chance to win 2 prize packs being supplied from Faber-Castell!
How fun is that?!?!

For today's art, I used the same technique that I used on yesterday's post (misting the stamp image and then coloring directly onto it using the gelatos.) That's how I created the frame for the Moxie. The Moxie was stamped using the brush of the PITT artist pen.

In addition, on this card, I colored the background using the gelatos. That background is a page out of an old dictionary. I simply sprayed the whole page with my water, rubbed the gelatos directly onto it and then mushed it all together using my fingers to blend all the colors. After I had the look that I wanted with the colors, I crumpled up the page to create a more distressed look to it.

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Moxie
*DCWV houndstooth paper
*Prima paper (blue)
*dictionary page
*ribbon
*pinking shears
*black flat-backed gems

Be sure to leave a comment on my Design Memory Craft blog posts this week.
Each comment (only one comment per day) will enter you into a drawing for
Color Gelatos & Clear Stamp kit
(like those pictured above!)

Tomorrow, I will be sharing a different technique using the Gelatos!!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!!

Featuring Design Memory Craft this week!!!

Good Monday Morning, everyone!

A couple of weeks ago, I got a very fun email asking me if I would like to play with some new products and feature them on my blog from Design Memory Craft. I am always up for trying new things so I said, "Sure!"

It's going to be a fun week, because I have been playing/experimenting with these very cool art supplies and you can do so many fun things with them!

The best news...you can win some of these fabulous supplies too!! Two commenters on my blog this week, will win A Mix & Match Mixed Media Sampler and Color Gelatos & Clear Stamp kit (like those pictured at the bottom of this post!)

Make sure to leave a comment for your chance to win!!!

So let's get to the playing...
For my first few projects this week, I am really playing with those gelatos. You can see them up there with my card. They are like little tubes of colored chapstick that you can see around my photo above.

For this card, I misted my stamp image with water and then tapped the gelatos onto the stamp to color it. The gelatos have a waxy type of texture, but when water is added to them, they become like paint...it is so cool!!

The dark blue around the edge of the stamped cardstock is the effect that you get when you use the gelato directly. I rubbed the gelato directly onto the cardstock and then smudged it with my finger to get the shading around the edge.

Because I felt super-artsy using these fun gelatos, I used a really artsy image from Unity Stamp Co with that butterfly. I love how the image has the drips coming off of it with the cool effect of the gelatos. So fun! The "delight" was done by using the PITT artist pen big brush and brushing the ink directly onto the stamp image.

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Art & Soul
*Prima IOD paper collection
*Nestabilities Labels die cut
*book page
*flat-back pearls

And because I am so bad at explaining things,
here is the info about the product line directly from Faber-Castell!!!
