For today's project, I wanted to create a set of cards based upon all the fun bird stamps that Unity Stamp Co. has (yes, I was working with last week's Exercise Your Creativity theme.)

{click on the images for a better view of the cards}

All the cards have the exact same layout, using the same collection of papers (DCWV Green Stack)...just different bird images.

For the card on the left here (above), I used the birdie stamp from the kom, Endings & Beginnings. For the card on the right here (above,) I used the owl stamp from the kom, It's the little things...

For the birds on the card above, I used the stack of birdies from the kom, Remember Happiness.

For the birdies on the card on the left (above,) I used the kit, Love Birdies. For the tree and bird on the card on the right, I used the kit, Tiny Giggle Grove.

Hip-Hopping with Friends!!!

We are celebrating FRIENDS this Unity hip-hop day
with the release of Lisa's gorgeous new flower kit, Floral Friends!!!

I took this opportunity to do a layout about Kat and her best friend, Flopsy (I am sure that you have noticed her presence in pretty much every photo I take of Kat.)

None of the photos in this series is really very wonderful, but Flopsy is ever-present in all of them which tells a bit of how inseparable they are so I thought that it would make for a cute layout.

I created the detail around the photos using the flowers from the new kit, Floral Friends (paper piecing the actual flower) and the swirl from the Little Reminders kom.

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Floral Friends (flowers)
*Unity Stamp Co. Little Reminders (swirl)
*Unity Stamp Co. Let's Get Scrappy (best friends oval)
*DCWV Taj Majal paper (base)
*Jenny Bowlin die-cut paper
*Pink Paislee paper (orange gingham)
*ribbon
*flat back gems
*Memories inkpad

Memories of May Day baskets...
There has been quite a discussion about this in the design team as it seems that A LOT of people have never heard of them. We moved a lot while I was growing up and one of those moves took us to Eastern Montana where we did May Day Baskets. There, we would put them on our neighbors doorstep filled with little goodies like candies and marbles, ring the doorbell, and run! I always loved that tradition and always have plans for doing it with the kids, but somehow never find the time. This year, we have a jumpstart...

For my May Day "basket", I used a very small mailing tube that I have had for years to alter. I simply covered it in paper, stamped a strip with those cute little flowers, and added truffles (as my flowers) that I skewered onto kabob skewers. Super easy!

Of course, I had to create a coordinating card to give to the neighbor too...

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Floral Friends
*Unity Stamp Co. ...it's the little things (Friend sentiment on card)
*MME papers
*MM paper (die-cut on card)
*MM brown trim
*ribbon
*flat backed gems
*Martha Stewart border punch (on "basket")
*kabob skewers
*truffles

It's Ben's Birthday...

...so I have lots to do around here to get ready for the family festivities tonight. As a result, this is going to be a pretty quick post...

First, I have his birthday card to share. I used this week's MojoMonday sketch (#79) to create this card.

I don't usually decorate the insides of cards, but this one seemed to need it...

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Birthday Chic
*American Crafts paper (scalloped green)
*MME paper (paisley and solid green)
*Fresh Paint paper (turquoise)
*MM copper brads
*ribbon
*Memories inkpad

I am doing a bit of work for Unity over on the new Addicted to Rubber Stamping website. Did you realize that they had blogs and a message board over there? I didn't either. They are just getting going, but there are some fun possibilities there as a community! Come check it out!

But someone was asking for ideas using shrinky dinks so I made this super fun and easy bookmark using a shrinky dink and my Unity Wish Sticks.

To Make:
1. Simply stamp your image (this image is from the Wish kit from Unity Stamp Co.) on the shrinky dink "stuff" with StazOn (I also added some watercolors for an interesting effect).
2. Punch it into a shape (for mine I used my nestabilities in my cuttlebug)
3. Punch a 1/4" hole into top for ribbon.j
4. Shrink using heat gun.
5. Thread ribbon through, adding beads at the top.
6. Tie a knot in the top so that you can slide your two ribbon halves around your pages in your book.

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Wish Sticks
*White Shrinky Dink material
*StazOn
*watercolors
*beads
*ribbon
*Scalloped Oval Nestabilities
*Cuttlebug
*1/4" hole punch

I hope that you are having a fabulous Tuesday!!!

Sunday Share....

Happy Sunday everyone! I am sorry that I never made it on here yesterday to blog...I had good intentions, just never the time!!! I have a few fun things to share today...hopefully, I won't bore you too much!

The first is a layout that I just finished.

I titled it No cooperating. The journaling says, "After almost 2 years of having a camera shoved in her face, Kat has said "No More!" And now refuses to look directly at the camera with those baby blues. So now we will have lots of photos with far-off looks. ~March, 2009"

I used Unity's March kit of the month, Simple Things. I cannot tell you how much I love this kit and I haven't even used all of my favorite images in it. I think that I could stamp with this one kit alone for the next 6 months and be happy (not that we want that to happen though!)

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Simple Things
*Unity Stamp Co. Just My Type
*Bo Bunny paper and brads
*Making Memories die cut paper and ribbon
*Martha Stewart border punch

Speaking of Unity...they are having an AWESOME sale this weekend on EVERYTHING!! Go check it out (make sure to use the coupon code when ordering!)

And now just a couple of other fun little shares...
The other day when I was at Barnes & Noble, I picked up a new magazine on a whim, Mary Jane's Farm. I really like it even though I am NOT a farm girl at ALL. Inside of it was a page advertising this book...MaryJane's Outpost and I ordered it on a whim from B&N.

I love it! It has all kinds of things in it like how to build a platform for an outside bed, to recipes, to planning for a picnic, to how to pick wild greens. It is full of gorgeous imagery as well as tons of fabulous outdoor activity ideas. I highly recommend it!!

And finally, this finally made it into my house last night....*sigh* I just loved it and plan to watch it again today. Jacob is watching it right now so we will see what the verdict is from a guy (teenage one at that) that hasn't read the books yet.
