A Study in White- Post 1 of 2 for today...

Good Friday morning! Wow, this week has just flown by!!! This is my post about my exercises in white for the week (the next exercise will be up as post #2 for today in a few hours.) I tried to explore the options with playing with white this week so there are several different styles of things to share with you today.

This first is simply a page out of my inspiration journal. I am having so much fun putting this together and finding all the inspirational images. It's fun to find pretty pictures just because I simply like them which is always a fantastic place to start with inspiration...things that you like.

This second project is a layout that explores using white space as a design detail. I envy people that can create layouts with great white spaces because it really puts the focus on the photo, but I have a hard time leaving all that white space alone out there. LOL!

This was a photo that was taken Christmas morning of Kat with all of her Christmas bling on...
Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Diva kit
*Imaginisce paper (pink)
*Creative Imagination Narratives paper (green)
*ribbon
*buttons
*Bazzill
*glitter
*Marvy Uchida oval punches

These are both photos of some of the (unfinished) lacework that my Grandmother did. I recently found this box (for some reason, I don't have it stored with the rest of her handmade linens that I inherited) and I decided that it would be great to play with my camera and all of this for this white study. In the top piece you can see the way that the piece was going to look on the left. The right side is all of the individual medalions sewn onto linen before being cut-out to crochet into the main piece.

In the box are about 10 of these different spools of yarn/thread. Just beautiful...I love the old quality of the labels and the wooden spools. It's such a wonderful connection to my grandmother that I am so grateful to have. I have a whole bunch of her other linen projects too and one day I plan to pull it all out and photograph it so that I can share it with you because it is just beautiful!

For my final project, I created a card using a technique that I have seen others use, but have never tried it myself. As you can see, the entire project is white...the design interest comes from all different textures within the white. I couldn't have done this one without my Cuttlebug...I love that thing! I think that this would be a great technique to use for wedding or sympathy cards...when you need a simple, graceful elegant look.

I hope that you enjoyed my retrospective of my study in white from this week. Remember, it is never to late to join in and play along and give your own Creative Muse a bit of exercise. Week #3 exercise will be up later today (probably around 2:00...)
