Hip-Hopping with Friends!!!

We are celebrating FRIENDS this Unity hip-hop day
with the release of Lisa's gorgeous new flower kit, Floral Friends!!!

I took this opportunity to do a layout about Kat and her best friend, Flopsy (I am sure that you have noticed her presence in pretty much every photo I take of Kat.)

None of the photos in this series is really very wonderful, but Flopsy is ever-present in all of them which tells a bit of how inseparable they are so I thought that it would make for a cute layout.

I created the detail around the photos using the flowers from the new kit, Floral Friends (paper piecing the actual flower) and the swirl from the Little Reminders kom.

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Floral Friends (flowers)
*Unity Stamp Co. Little Reminders (swirl)
*Unity Stamp Co. Let's Get Scrappy (best friends oval)
*DCWV Taj Majal paper (base)
*Jenny Bowlin die-cut paper
*Pink Paislee paper (orange gingham)
*ribbon
*flat back gems
*Memories inkpad

Memories of May Day baskets...
There has been quite a discussion about this in the design team as it seems that A LOT of people have never heard of them. We moved a lot while I was growing up and one of those moves took us to Eastern Montana where we did May Day Baskets. There, we would put them on our neighbors doorstep filled with little goodies like candies and marbles, ring the doorbell, and run! I always loved that tradition and always have plans for doing it with the kids, but somehow never find the time. This year, we have a jumpstart...

For my May Day "basket", I used a very small mailing tube that I have had for years to alter. I simply covered it in paper, stamped a strip with those cute little flowers, and added truffles (as my flowers) that I skewered onto kabob skewers. Super easy!

Of course, I had to create a coordinating card to give to the neighbor too...

Supplies used:
*Unity Stamp Co. Floral Friends
*Unity Stamp Co. ...it's the little things (Friend sentiment on card)
*MME papers
*MM paper (die-cut on card)
*MM brown trim
*ribbon
*flat backed gems
*Martha Stewart border punch (on "basket")
*kabob skewers
*truffles

Now hop on over to the ever-talented Jennifer B's blog....
